Guest Blogging Metrics –
With Google’s negative statements on Guest Blogging, this particular tactic seems to have fallen. However, contrary to everyone’s beliefs, Google just stated that guest blogging just for links is a bad and spammy strategy. SEO marketers should not depend on this method for link building.
Well-thought out and perfectly targeted guest blogging articles still have a big impact and value of the overall SEO strategy and content marketing.
Google PageRank is a very popular metric which everyone in the SEO industry is obsessed over. It is the best way to understand a penalized domain. PageRank is basically a number that is given by Google to the pages that it indexes. It can range from 0 to 10. If it is 0, it most likely has been penalized by Google. For the website you are thinking of working with, this is a metric you should first check.
Domain Authority is another score indicating the quality of the website. It ranks from 0 to 100 – the higher the better. Moz’s metrics, such as the number of referring domains and the total number of links, are all combined into one score. It is better to work with websites having a minimum score of 40.
Moz’s other metric is “Unique referring domains” which tells you how diverse that specific link is by answering the question, “How many unique domains are currently linked to this website?” The higher the number, the more diverse it is. Quality trumps quantity here as 10 posts from well-known websites will be worth more than 100 from small, unknown ones.
Alexa.com analyses the traffic to the domain. It does not provide figures for smaller websites, but it does give you an idea on how much traffic a particular site gets. The lower the number here, the better it is.
Check out these metrics and strategies before you start out with guest blogging. After all, you want a good return for all the effort you put in.
